High-Flow PVB Interlayer for Textured and Slumped Glass

Laminating highly textured, kiln-formed, or cast glass is notoriously difficult, as rigid interlayers leave air pockets in the deep grooves. Our High-Flow PVB Interlayer is formulated with a highly modified Melt Flow Index (MFI). During the autoclave process, it liquefies to perfectly fill deep textures, valleys, and irregular surfaces of artistic glass. Upon cooling, it provides maximum adhesion and standard safety glass certification without trapping air bubbles.

Q: Do I need to use a thicker PVB for textured glass?
A: Yes. The total thickness of the PVB must be greater than the depth of the deepest texture groove on the glass to ensure complete void filling. We often recommend 1.14mm or 1.52mm high-flow thicknesses.
Q: Will the high-flow resin ooze out of the edges?
A: Yes, some edge squeeze-out is normal and expected due to the high fluidity. Processors should use edge tape during lamination and trim the excess after autoclaving.
